Betsy's Farm was established in Warner, New Hampshire, in 2005. A friend and neighbor named Betsy donated her field for our first market gardens. Eventually we passed that field along to another farming friend--but we kept the name as a gift.
In our first season we grew a wide selection of certified organic vegetables, selling them at local markets and through a multi-farm all-organic Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program (Kearsarge Mountain CSA) that we co-founded. In 2007 we moved to Maine and spent several seasons as organic growers there. While in Maine we ran our own small CSA, and sold to local independent grocers. We also joined several other farms in bringing local organic produce to the region's hospitals--our gardens are in the cover photo in this article about it.
In summer 2011 we returned to Amy's home area of western North Carolina, where her family still lives, to set roots.
Wherever we are, we seek to grow great food in a way that sustains our family, our business, our community, and the natural environment upon which we all depend.
Summer 2012 will be our first growing and selling season here in Canton. Drop us a line at betsysfarm@charter.net.
